Christmas Magic! (is an annual
Christmas goodwill concert from ArtColony International (ACI). We hosted
our maiden edition in 2010 with the aim of using the creative arts to
promote social consciousness whilst providing a platform to creatively
initiate sustainable development in at least one community every year.
This event encapsulates the essence of ACI’s vision viz. re-building
society...a bit at a time.
Featuring a unique combination of prime entertainment, young talent promotion and community development, Christmas Magic! adopts a concert-competition format, therefore making the heart of the show an altruistic effort.
About Christmas Magic! 2012
The focus of Christmas Magic! 2012, as the other two editions, is the education sector. Our objective is the improvement of literacy within selected primary institutions in Lagos State.
Our choice of primary education is premised on the understanding that it forms the basic foundation for learning. It also is our way of contributing to the attainment of the second item of the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals in our society viz. the achievement of universal primary education.
In the Magi Contest this year, we will be featuring young but seasoned performers competing for 5 community schools in Lagos State. These include: Adekemi Adetula a.k.a Irawo (Talking Drums), Guchi Egbunine (Tenor), Uduak Nsehe (Piano), Emmanuel Fagbohun (Violin), Premier Clarinet Quartet.
Guests and Special Features:
We had in attendance last year a cross section of art lovers of various ages as well as representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Nigeria. We also had, in addition to the performances by our “Magi” (contestants), a special performance by Kate Henshaw in the segment of our programme titled “My Christmas”.
Lined up for this segment this year for is Mr. Norman MacLeod (Chief Operating Officer, SINOPEC Ltd) who will be giving a performance on the Scottish Bagpipe. We are also featuring special contributions by renowned performers: Yinka Davies and Olufunmi while our comperes will be Ben Ogbeiwi and Omo Baba No. 1.
Another special feature of this programme is the “Magic Ensemble Award”, which is a foretaste of our art competition for schools to start next year. Participating will be representatives of: The Indian Language School, Headstart Private School and Grange School.
