“We took a break to reinforce all our efforts to promote good music and we are thrilled to be back! It is We are committed to promoting quality performances to fans and the industry”, Osagie Osarenkhoe, the Events and Music coordinator said in a statement.

One Mic Naija is a live music show hosted by rappers, Kel and Kunle ‘KB’ Bello (formerly of Trybesman), who will now be joined by Korebrown of Top Radio 90.9 as the host for the audience freestyle competition. The audience freestyle competition is one of the high points of the show, with winners going home with gifts and prizes like free productions and free online promotions.

Korebrown first anchored the audience session at the last One Mic Naija which held at Swe Bar, and he said, “I am excited to be a part of this edition of One Mic Naija and i love the connection with the audience so everyone is in for a thrill”.

Also new is the venue as One Mic Naija now holds at the scenic and exclusive Ember Creek on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi. Events and Logistics coordinator of One Mic Naija, Miss Moyo Shomade says, “The ambience at Ember creek is just the right vibe for our show as it is scenic, serene and accessible from any point”.

Not everything has changed though. As mentioned earlier, Kel and Kunle KB Bello return as the crazy hosts the audience have grown used to. The live band is also, still the same. “It is important for us to keep One Mic Naija as a live show because the fun starts from the band rehearsals, and runs right though to the day of the show itself” Kel said in the statement.

The six artistes of each One Mic Naija show usually rehearse with the One Mic Naija band several times before the show.

This edition is tagged the ‘Welcome Back’ edition and has Vector as headliner. “Our Welcome Back edition has one of our favourite headliners from previous editions”, Tosyn Bucknor, Event and Media Coordinator mentions. “He had a great set the last time he headlined and with all the recent accolades he has been getting plus, new music, we thought it would be great to have a welcome back edition with him”.

Muhtar Bakare is the Managing Director of Pearson Nigeria, a subsidiary of Pearson International which owns the Financial Times and is the largest education business in the world. He joined Pearson in 2012.

He started his career at Citibank Nigeria, where he spent 10 years before joining Trust Bank of Africa (now Sterling Bank) as an Executive Director.

He left banking in 2004 to start a publishing business – Farafina Kachifo Limited and has since published some of the best contemporary Nigerian writers, most notably Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. He has also published African household names such as Biyi Bandele, Ben Okri and Ngugi wa Thiong'o.

Muhtar was Editorial Director as well as Editor of the Editorial Pages of NEXT Newspapers between July 2009 and June 2010.

He is a founding member and a trustee of KOWA Party.

Most recently, Muhtar was an Executive Producer of Half of A Yellow Sun, the movie adaptation of the best-selling Chimamanda Adichie book by the same name. The movie premiered in September at the Toronto International Film Festival and stars international actors Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton as well as Nigerian actors Genevieve Nnaji and O.C. Ukeje.

Muhtar has a degree in architecture from the Obafemi Awolowo University.

​The Carnival is structured as an outdoor/open event to accommodate the thousands of people expected. A stage will be erected on the edge of the main Carnival arena with space to accommodate an audience of several thousands. The stage will be fully equipped with audio visual gear and staffed by qualified engineers and technicians. Emphasis will also be placed on inviting local and international artists and performers. Africa is brimming with talent and the Nigeria Business Expo & Carnival aims to be a launch pad for up and coming artist who wish to build international careers.

The Traditional Attire Train/Parade

The procession will include a costume plethora of indigenous traditional attire. It is the intention of the organizers to make the parade as colorful as ever. In addition to this, gift items will be awarded to the best dressed costume participants.

The Display of Local Dancers and Acrobatics

People will be treated to a wide variety of local dance and traditional songs from the major geo-political zones.

Outdoor Cooking

Participants will be able to enjoy a wide variety of local and international cuisine in the ‘Owanbe ambiance’ area thereby giving many people the opportunity to feel home away from home while enjoying the colorful festivities.

Merchandizing of Items

The artistic legacies and significant qualities of Nigeria cannot be over-emphasized; as such, a craft market will be set up specifically aimed at developing the craft industries of Nigeria / South Africa and all other African countries. This will be linked to the tourism development strategy of the Nigeria Business Expo & Carnival encouraging local and international tourists to buy crafts.

Children Games Arcade

The children’s game arcade will be designed to specifically cater for the needs of children. Games, storytelling, painting of faces, bouncy castles, fun competitions and lots of finger foods and children oriented refreshment will be provided for the utmost comfort and delight of the kids.
